I am concerned about the safety of a child overseas and have observed an incident which indicates a child or children may be being sexually exploited?
Sometimes people think that when they are in another country anything goes. In fact, some wish to believe that it’s ok to abuse a child because it is culturally acceptable in that country. The fact is child sexual abuse is a crime no matter what country they are in.
But if you have seen suspicious or worrying behaviour whilst travelling overseas what can you do about it?
Call Child Wise on 1800 99 10 99 (inside Australia) or email us with as much information as you can and we will assist you and direct it to the appropriate authorities.
You can also make a report your concerns of Child Sex Tourism to:
Australian Federal Police (Child Protection Operations Team ) or call 1800 813 784
If you are currently in South East Asia, recently each ASEAN country established a reporting hotline so that people witnessing suspicious behaviour can voice their concerns to the appropriate authorities. The hotline services may be staffed by non-English speaking staff and available during business hours only.
We encourage you to contact the appropriate hotline listed below but recommend that you also report your concerns to Child Wise. We will ensure that the authorities both in Australia and in the country of your concern are notified.
