Spread the word
Child sexual abuse continues to occur because of the secrecy it is so often shrouded in. Most children never speak up about their abuse and as a community it is rarely or reluctantly discussed. It is not surprising then that adults are often ill equipped to help children and protect them from the abuse. Adults often lack basic information about the indicators of abuse and should we have concerns, we often do not know how to prevent it or where to report it.
Child sex offenders, sometimes referred to as paedophiles, are often protected by this secrecy and lack of awareness. As individual and community awareness increases however, so does vigilance over childrens’ welfare and as such offending behaviour is scrutinised and reported and in turn abuse is prevented.
Child sexual abuse ruins so many young and promising lives. You can help to raise awareness in your community about how to protect children.
